The Best Craft Glue is Here!

We are excited to now carry E6000 in our store.  This glue is perfect for making jewelry, crafts, and much more!  Lots of jewelry designers that we have encountered tend to use E6000 in their jewelry.  In fact, 90% of the jewelry lesson videos that we have released use E6000 when an adhesive is needed.

Susan Karczewski prefers it over other glues because she personally feels that the vapor is not as strong as other craft glues on the market.

E6000 is great for:
- Fabric
- Metal
- Wood
- Glass
- Ceramic and more!

To purchase your own tube of E6000, Click Here to visit our store for more information.

Two New Videos On the Way

Susan-Karczewski-Jewelry-Lessons.png

We had a great time shooting over Memorial Day weekend with Susan Karczewski.  We shot two new lessons at her store located in pierceton, Indiana.  Without giving too much away, one of the jewelry lessons that we shot involved making a piece of jewelry out of a common wine cork.  This piece is very cool and it also intertwines some of her ideas that were born out of her Hardware Store Jewelry Series.

The other jewelry lesson that Susan taught had a killer altered art feel to it.  This lesson involved using a key and turing it into a decorative necklace.  It also utilized a bit of wire wrapping.  The finish piece is truly unique and I have not seen this jewelry making method implemented before.  The combination of wire, beads, and gems is what makes this key pendant so unique.  It will be a wonderful video to learn from and we can't wait to finish editing it!

To learn more about Susan, visit her sit at: http://www.purr-fectly.com

Stay tuned for more information about the release dates of these two lessons!

Selecting Colors for Your Jewelry Designs Using the Color Wheel

Jlv Colors.gif

When designing jewelry (OR ANY OTHER CREATIVE PIECE), it is important to have reasons that back up your design decisions.  The color wheel is a great source to turn to find reasons to backup your design choices.  The image above depicts the common color schemes that are found within the color wheel.

The black dots and lines depict the different “color schemes” found on the wheel itself.  Some examples that are depicted above are complementary (orange and blue), analogous (green, blue-green, and blue), and triadic (yellow-green, red-orange, and blue-violet).  If you rotate these black dots clockwise or counterclockwise, you will have a new color scheme that you can utilize.  For example, if you wanted a new triadic color scheme you could rotate the black dots one color clockwise to produce the color combination.  In the example above, the new triadic color combination would be red, blue, yellow.

Using the color wheel to coordinate your raw jewelry making materials such as beads, fabrics, and stones can provide you with a solid reason for your color choices within your jewelry.  It can sometimes be difficult to know where to begin when designing jewelry but the color wheel is an excellent place to start.

Got The New Home Page Up!

Check out our new homepage image!  We wanted an image that is very inviting and welcoming to all the jewelry designers that visit our site.  We also wanted an image that portrayed both the model in the image as well as our company in a good light.   The subject is lit very glowing high key light and the image has a nice balance between the model and her jewelry.

We felt that our old home page that tossed viewers right into the lessons was a bit jarring.  This new page should help briefly explain our mission and guide designers into checking out the different types of jewelry making videos that we offer.

When I reflect on this image, this comes to mind:
Without the human element, jewelry would be non-existent.  Without jewelry, mankind would loose a major way in how we display our interests, motivations, and beliefs.  It's amazing how jewelry is such a strong factor in human self-expression.

Happy crafting this weekend!

Our Blog is Live!

Our blog is finally here!  Right now we are focusing hard on launching our accessory kits for each of our lessons.  We have received a strong response from viewers asking us various questions about the tools used in each lesson.  In order to address these questions, we have decided to launch our accessory kits which include all or most of the tools used in each individual lesson.

We are excited about this idea and we believe that it will help everyone to get up and running faster.  You will be able to have the tools shipped right to your doorstep and this will eliminate any questions about the tools needed for each lesson.
